Eye Injuries FAQs
What should I do if my child’s eyes have been exposed to a chemical?
- Immediately wash out the eye using the nearest source of fresh water or sterile saline solution and contact medical assistance. Avoid rubbing the affected area, as this may cause further irritation or damage, and do not bandage the eye. Having information about the specific chemical involved (which is usually printed on the packaging) will help us determine if any further evaluation and treatment is necessary.
