Children’s Wellness Center strongly believes that in order to provide the best possible medical care, a partnership must be forged between the physician and the family. We practice traditional medical care as outlined by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). We support the AAP’s immunization guidelines and believe all children have the right to be protected from preventable infectious diseases, with limited medical exceptions. In addition, we support all efforts to reduce the use of medically unnecessary interventions such as antibiotics.
Children’s Wellness Center follows the well-child visit guidelines promoted by the American Academy of Pediatrics. We recommend frequent check-ups during infancy and yearly beginning at three years of age. We believe these visits are important to assess growth and development, as well as to offer advice regarding safety and emotional issues that are an integral part of a healthy childhood. We see patients from birth through 21 years of age.
Children’s Wellness Center realizes that one of the most anxiety-provoking roles as a parent is providing care to an ill child. All efforts will be made to evaluate ill children on a same day basis if necessary. Our skilled office staff is available during our office hours, and patients will have access to after hours information 24/7 by all nurses or physicians in the event of an emergency.
We continue to see all newborns daily at Northside Hospital, including weekends and holidays. If you are delivering at a non-Northside facility, we recommend using their neonatology service. Please remember to bring all discharge paperwork with you to your baby’s first appointment. This should be one to three days after discharge. This is important for us to provide the highest medical care for your newborn.
